Shimenawa, Shide, and Torii

Went for an evening walk and found a small Shinto shrine in the neighborhood between Kayama Station and Tsukahara Station. I took a few shots with my iPhone, so there is a lot of noise in these shots.

I think the Japanese word for this straw rope is shimenawa (しめなわ). The white objects are ritual paper streamers that are attached to the shimenawa. Those streamers are called shide (垂) in Japanese.

I tried to frame the steps leading up to the Shinto shrine with the torii gate, or just torii (鳥居) in Japanese. In this shot you might be able to see the komainu (狛犬) or so-called lion-shaped guardian dog on the left.
